Flogas are 15% cheaper than Bord Gais for residential. When Bord Gais increase their rates by 21.75% from the 1st Oct Flogas will still remain 15% cheaper than new rates.

They are all going up, but Flogas still seem to offer the best deal.

15% Discount on Gas off their standard gas rate, which is the same as Bord Gais. No fixed term contract.

You can also go to Bord Gais for your electricity and get 12% discount.

Airtricity seem to offer much the same 15% deal, but you only get 5% dicount on electricity, which you must also take, they also require you to sign a 12 month fixed term contract, and use ebilling, but most importantly the Airtricity standing charge is more expensive.

    FloGas for Gas
    Bord Gais for Electricity

I have just signed over to Flogas...well almost ..as I have to finalise Tomorrow..Anybody else changed over and any catches ? They say 15% below Bord Gais and they track their prices at this..

Question - In the past two years or so we have always paid our bill with BG on line and never paid it all in one go but in installments.. Can we do this with Flo Gas ?

If we decide to change back to bord gais do we have to pay a deposit of some sort ? Was reading this but not sure if it would apply...

    Any help would be welcome...

    Hi exador,

I know the market very well.

I understand what you are saying about sometimes allowing your Bg bill roll over to the next bill, this is not allowed by any of the new companies, Airtricity, Electric IRL or Flogas.

But I would still recommend that you switch to Flogas becasue..

Firstly you will get a 15% discount on your gas for this winter.

Secondly ask the rep about FloGas pay plan.

With FloGas Pay Plan, Flogas get access to your past 12 months gas usage, they divide this usage by 12, giving a monthly payment amount witch will be 15% less than if you stay with BG. It makes it much easier to budget your gas.

PayPlan spreads your gas cost over 12 months, no more high winter gas bills.

I would also recommend you switch your electricity to Airtricity 14% discount or BG 12% discount.

    Any questions just contact me.

    exador,

remember there is not fixed term contract with Flogas so you have the security that you can leave at any stage.

    Thanks for info..

I assume with Flogas then that we can't roll over ? If we do decide to go flogas and then change back to BG in a while do we have to pay a deposit? We don't have any arrears with BG but we sometimes let the bill roll over and pay shortly afterwards..

All new sign up by flogas attract a discount of 15%, all must be signed up as Direct Debit.

But I would still recommend them.

Go on Pay Plan, it will be cheaper and easier to control.

With Flogas you also get a payment card, you can use this in most shops, or you can use internet banking to make top up payments.

If you cancel your direct debit your discount drops to 6% and you might have to pay a deposit.

If you needed to return to BG at some stage, I dont think they would look for a deposit, not at present anyway, but with changes happening, you never know.

To get to the point, by switching, you will save money, by switching to Plan Pay you will find it a lot easier to pay your gas bill, what ever happens your safe in the knowledge that your not stuck to FloGas.

If you have been with BG for a couple of years, then I see no issue with them looking for a deposit if you did return.

    Do it, it makes sense,

FloGas have no fixed term contract, if they do, just switch again, to switch you dont have to do anything, it makes sense, you will save.
