    Hi All,

Investigating an issue with a friend on a '00 1.4 MKIV Golf with over 100k miles.

    Coming up with the following:

    16804 and 16518

Any clues? I did pull the code descriptions off the web but there's a lot of possibilities there (most are CAT related).

    Thanks.

    16518 P0134 O2 Sensor Circ.,Bank1-Sensor1 No Activity Detected
    16804 P0420 Catalyst System,Bank1 Efficiency Below Threshold

looks like you need a new o2 sensor

Sorry - I should have mentioned that the O2 sensor was already replaced!
    (Unless it's gone faulty already)?

It could be an o2 sensor/wiring...what is the car running like?

As paddy said the fault codes could be left overs from the old sensor, have the been reset since? was the sensor you fitted new/second hand/genuine/spurious?

    Sensor was new.
    Codes were all cleared (twice).
Starts and drives but dies the odd time (and recovers).....
I believe that it was a genuine sensor but will double check over the week-end.

have you had the throttle body cleaned? only takes a few minutes, could be lucky.
