    Hi All

My Dad has a 1973 Merc 350SLC. He has given me a mission to find a reasonable priced water pump for the car.

I don't know alot about classics tbh. I was looking for advise where to start?

    Thanks

Otto (www.otto.ie) would be a good place to start.

The crowd below are based in the US and don't ship overseas, so you would need to know somebody over there to send it for you

You could contact this Irish crowd Lichtenberg Classics. They have a parts request section. :)

Their eBay page has a water pump on it though they would clarify if it was correct for your dad's car.

    Ebay.de for 99 euro
    http://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_nkw=wasserpumpe+350sl&_sacat=0&_odkw=wasserpumpe+m116&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313

Also DB Depot, SLS-hh.de, and Bruno Wenner all in Germany,
Bruno Wenner lists one here for 89 euro. part number 117 200 38 01
    http://www.mercedes-lager.de/liste.php?baumusternr=7
I have bought from DB and BW, all good.
Otto and B Lichtenberg are also good, and local. (but as cautioned by Dades, the pump shown on Lichtenbergs ebay page wont fit the 350). And lastly, Mercedes Benz themselves, have your chassis number ready. I recommend Agnew MB Portadown, Robert Dundas is the parts man. Google the number!

EDIT, when I say caution re Ben Lichtenbergs page, I just mean dont buy that particular water pump!!! Ben will easily get you the right pump!

Thanks for the advise - I didn't think it could be got at such reasonable prices.

Silverbell - the one on Ebay.de for 99 euro seems decent value as postage is only €10.I'll have to get my German Translater out :D

So if I request part number 117 200 38 01 -this is the correct item I'm looking for ?

As far as I can make out thats the correct number, the M116 and 117 engines (350 and 450) shared a lot of common parts. Type in the part number (1172003801 or A1172003801) into google aswell, and have a look at the pics to make sure.
Sometimes Mercedes is worth a call too as the prices can be surprising (in both ways!!). Agnew deliver to Ireland for 8pounds stg.
    All the best.
    G
