So I've been a bit torn on what 4th subject to pick for Arts. I've always known I wanted to do English, philosoph and spanish so whatever 4th subject I pick, I very much doubt I'd be keeping it on into 2nd year. Applying that logic... Would classics be a good move? It sounds very interesting but I'd imagine there's a lot of reading in it which would be fine but that on top of all the reading involved in English and Philosoph could be a bit of an overload.

Has anyone hear done classics before? Anyone considering it? Or, what other subjects would recommend as a 4th option to do just for one year?

    Cheerss :)

There is a more than average workload, some of it is very interesting, though some find the pots and language study boring.

Philosophy is a fairly easy option, if you are doing Spanish that will require work so I would say focus on that...

I chose classics as my "filler" subject in first year too. I ended up loving the art/architecture & literature modules and am keeping on classics in second year. Hated the language module though. I would recommend you take it in first year, who knows you might be pleasently surprised!!!

As for the reading, there is a fair amount but no more than any of the other three subjects I took which were English, Philosophy & History.

ONe thing I will say to you is that it is near IMPOSSIBLE to read everything each module/subject throws at you unless you spend 24/7 in the library. You need to learn how to be selective about what you read.

    Good luck whatever you decide
