Leave bottom Wisdom Teeth or whip them out?

    Hi,

I've had 3 top molars and two bottom molars on the right side filled over the last few months. I'm due to get the left bottom molars filled next month.

I have previously had my top wisdoms teeth out years ago.

At the moment, I have the two bottom wisdom remaining, and my dentist told me they would be doable, but difficult to take out.

I was advised that they would be difficult to fill, and maybe to just leave them until they begin to decay and then take them out.

Do you think it would be better to just leave them there until they start decay or cause pain and then get them out.
    Or
Just get them out when all my other teeth have been seen to?

    Thanks

When they decide to cause trouble, it may just be a little sore or in most cases is extremely painful and Murphy's law says that it'll happen at the worst possible time for you, on holiday, during exams or a busy work period.
Also just allowing them to decay may also allow the adjacent molar to decay if they are impacted together. This may require filling/root canal/ extraction of the adjacent tooth...

My advice is to arrange removal at a time that suits you and get it sorted before it causes you significant problems.

    OS

    Thanks OS,

I'd definitley prefer to get them out before the begin to disintegrate or cause me pain.

Both of the teeth are fully erupted but have grown outwards towards my jaw bone, but I can just about feel the outer sides of each of them, so I suppose you could easily fit a forceps in there, although the 'wiggle' action of the forceps would be limited, if you see what I mean.

Given the way they have grown, how long would it take a competent and experienced Oral Surgeon to take each one out?

    Thanks.

I'm in the same boat although one of them has already started to give some pain / trouble post filling. I'm going to the dentist next week and i'm hoping he'll extract it. I assume it has to be drilled out though as it would be fused to the jaw bone at this stage ?

Maybe i'm just talking rubbish
