Universal vice, or Threaded bar fabrication

Looking to build a fruit press and I'm looking for a steel fabricator to make me a universal vice. Has anyone ever had one made before or maybe knows where I can buy one? There's one or two on the net but they aren't long enough so I reckon fabrication is the way to go.

Heres a link to the short one, but in principal I want it to be similar except the collar and base need wider plates to be welded/attached some how.

    How ya Nulty,

Are you looking for something to industrial standards or just home use?

    Regards

Hi folks and thanks for the responses.

The scoffolding idea sounds tempting tbh. I might have a quick look into that although I reckon the diameter would be a bit too big for my needs.

    @ Figerty

I'm actually going to build a fruit press so it would be for home use. It would need to take around 1-2 tonnes PSI I reckon so a 30mm bar would be around the mark I'd say. Got any ideas?
