Motocross in Australia?

    Hey all,

I've no idea if anybody can shed some light on this for me but worth a try..
Myself and my boyfriend are considering a move to Australia or the USA (which seems near impossible).
The motive of our move is to see a bit of the world, make some money and for him to try and expand his motocross career. He's a pro rider here in Ireland but for him to improve he feels he needs to move onto bigger and better tracks. America would be the best place but as I've mentioned getting a years working visa for there seems very difficult.
I myself would love a move to Australia but I was just wondering would anyone here know anything about motocross in Australia? Best areas, the competitive levels, is it big there etc etc? Any knowledge, help, info would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance :)

I was only having a conversation with my bike mechanic here who was telling me how huge Motocross is in Aus. If it's any help, I could speak a little more about road biking because I looked into it for both AUS and NZ but you could also ask here... http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=577 Lots of the lads seem to know about biking matters down under Down Under. Or here too... http://www.netrider.net.au/forums/index.php

Thanks for you help! I'm going to post something in that section too and see if I can get any feedback :)
    Are you heading to Aus?

MotorCross would be HUGE sports both in NZ & Oz.
Anything with wheels and engines tend to get a large following there.
Even kids as young as 8 compete in motorcross, trust me Ive seen the fallout after accidents!
Dont forget the V8 car racing or the Speedway/stockcar racing, many a Friday nite spent watching the lads & ladies race around an oval track! Then the Saturday nite spent trying to rebuild the car over a few beers!

Not sure on the proffessional side of it all though!

Motocross is pretty popular here. However, if he wants to make a career/money out of it America is the only place to be!
