Learning his return to Earth FromSpace from the International Space Station might be delayed for possibly up to two months, NASA astronaut Ron Garan, sings the blues from the Soyuz spacecraft that will take him home. Eventually. It's all in good fun, so enjoy. (Note: Since Ron and the Expedition 28 crew made this video during some weekend downtime, return options have been under review by NASA).

So because a Soyuz rocket failed to reach orbit that means that they can't come down from the station on the Soyuz rocket that's up there with them ?

The name Soyuz can create confusion.
Progress is launched on a Soyuz U that in design shares a third stage with the Soyuz TM or OM series but it carries cargo and is called progress.

The Soyuz TMA or OM carry a crew and the entire craft is called Soyuz.
it was the shared third stage that failed after the launch of Progress.
the remains of Progress have not been found but Russia seems confident that they know what went wrong,it looks like a very fixable problem.
the Soyuz in the video is the way home for three members of the station.Ron Garan is just a great guy and is very involved with saving planet Earth, the video is a bit of fun.since it was made they have been told they are coming home on the 16th.

the crew will then be down to three and could at a push stay until December but only last Monday Americas chief ISS manager spoke to the press and said although they would not like the station unmanned they are confident that it can last without a crew until mid 2012.

a manned Soyuz will not launch again until the first unmanned Soyuz to launch from French Guiana takes place, also no manned Soyuz until the next progress launches ok.

Soyuz is only certified to stay docked for 200 days,on top of that weather orbit and daylight are major factors in a Soyuz return for search and rescue so it is highly likely that the station may be demanned at least for a short while rather than a December landing.
in fact a poster could write a novel as to why the last three onboard will proably evacuate.

Short answer Soyuz launch might not be approved in time to leave any option but to bring the caretaker three man crew home before a manned Soyuz can launch again.
