Psychology in DBS? Advice badly needed!

    Hey all,

Has anyone done the full time Psychology degree in DBS? Can anyone give me some advice?

I really want to do Psychology but unsure about DBS as I haven'y heard much about it until I saw it on the vacant places in the CAO. I didn't get Psychology in UCD or Trinity and I really don't want to do it through Arts in Maynooth for fear of not getting a place in 2nd year as the numbers are limited! So if anyone out there can help it would be great! Is the degree worth doing and is it as good as doing the degree it in UCD or Trinity ( I doubt it)? Will I be employable and eligible for post grad study? Will i be as appealing as a UCD or Trinity graduate and also will the Degree be recognised abroad? And what is the DBS college life like?

There's an open evening on Tuesday so I'm going to go to that and find out as much info as possible but i would love some honest opinions, I'm really in a bind!

    Thanks guys,

I was about to make a new thread to know more about the college and the course it self as I got an offer for this course but when I actually emailed them about fees they said they were a private college......then I searched for the course fees which for this course where 5500 euros and I was wondering if this is for the 3 years in the course or not?

anyone who went to DBS please give us more info about this college :o

even if you were an irish citizen you would still need to pay the 5200 fee every year?

    Go to Maynooth.

If you're passionate about Psychology, you will be determined to work hard in it and you will get into the top 20 for 2nd year.

Remember that few people taking Psychology through Arts are actually interested in it. Many choose it just to have a third subject as they generally don't want to do something they've had to stand their gun with for years in secondary school like History and Geography.

Pick two other subjects that you really like/are exceptionally good at and you will have lots of free time to study Psychology. It takes far too long to study stuff you don't enjoy/aren't good at.

That's why I'm picking Sociology and Greek & Roman, two other subjects I'm passionate about. I will find it managable studying these two and still have plenty of time for Psychology.

€5,500 a year is too much, no one can afford it really.

    Good luck.

I know I think it's just the risk of not getting into second year pysch! I'm sure there are lots of people, like us, who really wanted to do pure psych and just didn't get enough points and have to go the Arts route too, there will be a lot of competition and I really don't want to do any other Arts subjects.

well I have already have done my leaving in 2010 which then I went into a fetac level 5 course, then applied to vacant places on the cao but i had thought that all colleges on the cao were colleges that werent private, after that I discovered on their webiste i needed to pay that amount but now im being afford social sciences,i would love to do that but the fee is tooo much even if i would transfer into socail sciences after this year through the cao to get into 2nd year in ucd or any other college that do socail sciences
