honda accord Diesel 2008-oil consumption

    Hi
Looking at buying a 2.2L Diesel Accord.
looked at a Type S version last night, serviced 6 months ago with 6k left till next service and oil was way below minimum. No obvious leaks, are they that heavy on oil or is it a sign of something else wrong? No oil warning light on either which was also strange.
    Any advice appreciated.

Any other useful advice on the 08 accord also appreciated, opinion, good/bad or otherwise or common problems/issues.

    Thanks

Well if that's indicative of the checks the owner does on the car I'd pass on it tbh.

    Agree with EPM^^^.

I have one and every forum says they consume oil at a high rate, and that you should use 0w30 fully synthetic oil all the time in them.

I watch mine all the time to make sure it has the right amount of oil, and if the owner isn't performing basic checks like this (especially when selling the car!) then it's an indicator of the way he/she treats the car.

That engine is known to consume a bit of oil, what would worry me is that the previous owner allowed it to drop below min. There are plenty of these cars about so I'd pass on that particular one.
