Moving into my new bedroom and have a window that is 5ft10inchs... (70 Inches) I bought a curtain pole that is 8ft which I no will have to be cut....

Just wondering what size curtains do I need to buy? Where is the best place to buy?

I dont want them touching the floor or hanging on the sill, so probably mid length ones....

With that width I'd go for 72 inch wide curtains, though you could get 90 inch wide if you wanted them to be extra full. The people in curtain shops are very knowledgeable and will advise you if you ask. Measure the drop from the top of your pole to where you want the curtains to end and they'll tell you what length you need.

I always find Harry Corry very good, they have a good selection and aren't expensive. They do a good range of eyelet curtains which are effortless to hang. Hickey's Homebase are very good too but more expensive, as are Arnotts. It depends on how much you want to spend really.

I like Home Store and More for curtains. Heading there at the weekend for my new bedroom ones too! :D

    Nickols in Northside Shopping Centre.

Got some lovely lined chocolate coloured 90 inch drop curtains for less than half price there last week.

Exact same curtain in Homefocus was 120 euro.

It pays to look around and also to haggle a bit too.:D

Cut 14" off the length of the pole, that will leave you with a pole that goes out 6" past the window each side, which is around standard. Then a pair of readymades 90"w x 72"d should do the job
