Just watched a vid on Youtube about prosthetics.

I have a disability on my right arm. It limits me in climbing Reaching and lifting.
    Other wise it work perfect
But the fingers are bent. You can feel the muscle being stretched all the time. when typing its like lifting weights because you have to apply extra muscle to stretch the fingers.

If you were given the option to have a perfectly good limb changed to a prosthetic at no charge. Would you accept it? and learn to fuction the arm all over again.

All seems a bit fishy to me..

My dad had a similar problem with his fingers OP.
Quick operation and 10 weeks recovery and his arm, hand and fingers are as good as new.

Yeah, OP, have you exhausted all possibilities of getting it sorted out without resorting to prosthetics?

It would depend on a number of things..........

    what age are you??

How much of a disability is it for normal everyday life?

If you are young, with many years left, and it will improve the quality of your life, then go for it.

If I can crush skulls like eggs with this robot arm, then sign me up. And then BRING ON THE SKULLS.

I might consider consulting a doctor ahead of after hours, but what do I know.

I doubt any doctor has watched as many hours of Scrubs or E.R. as I have. They probably don't even remember The Flying Doctors.

Now why on earth would you want to change a 'perfectly good limb' to a prosthetic one?

Sounds like what you need is a minor procedure and some streching rather than chopping it off.

And now you see the point of this thread. Lol. like your getting the operation free and you can finally have 2 normal looking arms not just the one.
Maybe someday you will have one that looks like Will smith's from the movie I Robot when our prosthetics have become so life like
