    I'll keep this short.

Basically, I'm starting college in NUI Maynooth this year. The letter we got said we must attend two consecutive days. However one of the days seems to just be showing us around and stuff - whereas the next day is registration.

So, is it essential that I go that first day? Because the thing is, I have my debs the night before, and from what I've learned about other debses(?), I won't even be home in time for when it starts, let alone at the actual college.

TL;DR: Is the "showy-around" day (the day before registration) essential? I hope it isn't.

It is and it isn't. I didn't bother with mine and I was grand - the library system is pretty intuitive, and a walk around the campuses anytime on your own with a map will give you a good idea of where everything is.

On the other hand, it can be good for meeting people on your course, getting a feel of the subjects on offer, and of course hearing big long boring speeches from Banquo and Buronkiisu:pac:

In short, no, its not essential, but will save a bit of hassle and perhaps make you some new friends. Enjoy the debs!

I know people that went on other days, so if you want to see around on one of the other days the suited better you could join one of those groups instead :)

If there is any way at all to go to even a small part of it, I'd advise going, purely to meet people from your course.

Yeah you probably should go! We got a few of the speeches and stuff at the HEAR week and the ones on the technologies used in college/the campus tours/speeches from the admissions office etc are really helpful! :)

I only went the day you had to register cos I hadn't actually moved out to Maynooth yet and wasn't bothered going all the way up 2 days. And you can probably just go in and register any of the days that week whatever suits.
