Sidescroller Game ID - longshot - Commodore 64

    Hi folks!
There is a game I have a brief memory of playing from my childhood,
that I have failed to track down in recent years.

Its a sidescroller game, possibly medieval style.

The one thing that stands out about the game is the size of your character's sprite ,
is about 5 times bigger than usual, than games like ghouls and ghosts.

As if the view is more zoomed in.

You are also walking down some kind of corridor, indoors, like a hallway in a castle to that affect, and its more bright than dark.

I think the character may be wearing some kind of grey armour, but the head is visible, and i remember the head being a pink colour.

I think either some kind of ghosts or maybe fire balls come at you also, but my memory is vague, and the game definitely isn't Thunder Cats.

As for defending yourself you may have to punch or kick or something but im not too entirely sure.

Does that ring bells with anyone?

Its been wrecking my head for years.

I fear it may have just been in a demo compilation and never made it as a finished game, as I'm finding so hard to track down.

The music and the game scared the **** out of me as a child, it was very intense possibly due to being up so close to your character.

As long as it's not Dick Tracy you're after. That one scared me as a youngster.

    and

    Savage

But i remember it being brigter.
It was hard as **** also, i can remember lasting less than a minute playing the thing!

And speaking of Monty on the Run, just came across this LOL!

    Nope, unforunately not.

It was more of a sidescroller from left to right down a corridor, where things would come at you, either fire balls or flying things, but thats as about as much detail i can remember!

It must a be a fairly obscure game because i've never seen it since,
i think there may be no platforms in it either, just a straight side scroller with a big sprite for your character.

I better not have dreamed the feckin thing either! hehe

Did you take a browse in lemon 64?.

I did in the past page by page and c64.com, but was trying Gamebase 64 mainly tonight.

I might try lemon 64 solely tomorrow night, cheers!

Tir na nog? (more of a spectrum game than a c64 , but it did have big sprites walking about)

I trully appreciate the replies lads but unfortunately its none of the games mentioned, sorry for dragging you all into this!
Shadow Of the Beast is too popular a game to go unnoticed all this while!

I don't remember being able to move vertically in the game, it also scrolled from left to right only I think, although I never lasted that long.

I *think* the armour was almost like something a Knight would wear,
but without the head armour, and it may have been blue-ish or grey-ish in colour.

Hopefully im not getting mixed up with the Loading picture and both thae picture and in game graphics are pretty similar.

I hope its not just one level from a game I played as a demo also otherwise it would be harder to track down.

I was only reminiscing about Beyond the ice palace recently,
but couldn't remember the name for it, didnt think it was that simple!

I used to love playing it, must give it a go again!

    Thanks for the reminder!

After about 23 years the mystery has finally been solved by Retr0!

And 3 years since this thread was started.

The game is Great Guarianos, which makes sense as i remembered the latter word in the title screen was similar to Gauntlet.

Its a commodore 64 port of the Taito Arcade game called Gladiator.

Hope you don't mind me bumping this thread, but this has been such a long time coming.

I can finally rest easy at night thanks to Retro's infinite wisdom, the man is a living, breathing Gaming encyclopedia!

I was going to comment about resurrecting zombie threads but I won't, seeing as it's finally been concluded.
No, I'll comment about complimenting Retr0 about anything, he then becomes an interminable smug git and it's torture for the rest of us.
For the love of glob stop!
