clipper blades don't need to be sharpened, just lubricated.
My brother in law has a barber shop and I regularly get a call to go over and sort out his clippers.
if you can, remove the blades completely, wipe or brush off any hair trapped between or around the blades and give them a dose of oil before putting it back together. remember to oil the any part where metal slides on metal not just the teeth.
once its all back together turn it on and wipe away any excess oil before you use it.
also, some clippers, like Wahl, have an adjustment screw on the side which controls the amount of 'throw' on the cutting blade. turn the clipper on and wind the screw in until you hear a loud knocking noise, then unwind just enough for the noise to stop
