If you are there for 11 you'll be fine. It's a tenner in.

They are very unfortunate that it is such a bad day.

They should have considered a date other than the All-Ireland final day. That has to effect the numbers.

It's always the first Sunday in September so it's always going to clash. Meath wouldn't exactly be a hurling county. The bad weather kept numbers down more so than hurling.

Anyway, here's a few shots from Sunday. More up on Pix.ie

I would have to disagree with you regarding the impact of the hurling. South Meath is quite a strong hurling area within Meath. Also there is usually a lot of interest in the hurling final even though it isnt a "hurling county". Many people that watch the game with great interest would not be from a hurling background. Aslo many people that would watch it may not watch another hurling game in the year.

I would agree however that the poor weather would have had more of an impact on the attendance but there would have been an impact from the hurling.

Just because they always did it that way doesnt mean that they have to continue. Maybe there is a clash with another local show but if there is not a clash then the following sunday would be a better option. they cannot use the weather as an excuse not to move the date as they have got pitiful poor weather a lot of years anyway.

Come to think of it, I remember it being on a weekday up in the GAA pitch when I was a child but of course the weekend is better. However, not the day of the All-Ireland please.
