    Hi,

I'm getting new black uPVC windows and basically come down to a choice between two companies. Dunno if I can name them but one is a company that manufactures Veka windows called Blair Neill from Newtownards near Belfast.

The local supplier has given me the low down on them and they seem to be spot on from what he is saying. (triple 0.8 and dbl 1.4. fully welded, internal beading, insulated reinforced frames).

I hadn't heard of Veka before but the reason the supplier is recommending them is because unlike Rehau, they are black the whole way through which I wanted.

They are considerably less expensive than the other company I'm considering and even less than 2 other quotes I got, so my question is has anybody used them before and can recommend them?

    Thanks!!

Mods - if I cant name them, sorry, please delete thread.

Black the whole way through, don't think so, get a sample of the profile.
Colours, Black, Blue Red etc, comes as a Foil, which is applied to the outside/ inside, of PVC Profile, usually white. Mahogany is applied to a dark brown profile and Light Oak, to a caramel profile, I don't thing there is a Black PVC.

So in your case the Black is a foil, applied to perhaps a dark brown profile, as I said get a sample of the Window profile.

I am familiar with the Co you mention, and subject to Mod's approval, would say they are very reputable.

Keep the discussion to the windows, please.

Nothing more about the company, thank you.

Thanks for the reply martinn123!! Got confirmation today that they are solid black the whole way through....if you have black on both sides.

fair enough, haven't seen that, do you mind if I ask why you prefer black profile.
The foil which is applied, has a woodgrain effect, in black, on the outside, and inside, and the profile itself, is not visable other than inside an opening vent.
    Cheers

Want to go for black profile as have heard that black may be subject to contraction in the heat and white might become visible at the joints. Right enough this may not be an issue if they are welded. Im not sure...my knowledge of windows is pretty limited.

have veka profiles in windows in house in cork, from different factory, imported tilt and turn and no problems with profile happy to report, steel reinforced, but veka just make the profile, the glazing and handle hinges as well as the putting together of said profile into frame and sash i can't answer for.
