    hey all,

sorry if there's somewhere else i should be posting this but, i recieved my student number today, and i'l be expecting the password in the next few days. anyway, my question is about the fees, it says if you've applied for the grant, you only pay the 150 and bring in a letter from the council on reg part 2, but after talking to my local council, i'm fairly certain i wont have any word on my grant for a looong long time yet.

what exactly should i do in this situation? just pay the 150 and bring in the letter whenever i get it (i hope)?

    cheers for any help!

If you're unsure, you pay the reg fee, and it gets refunded to you if you get the grant.

ah bummer, so paying 1000 of it first is ok? then just get that back when the grant comes through. maybe if i just pester the council enough between now and reg 2.....

I wouldn't expect to get the letter anytime soon, the council is ridiculously inefficient. When I was in first year my grant didn't come through until April.

    Absolute joke

If you have a letter from the council stating that you have applied, give that into the fees office and they'll probably allow you to register

No point in queueing up to show that letter as all it does is prove you applied for a grant, not that you've qualified for the grant. It won't be accepted by the Fees Office.

It might not do the job, but it might give you some time or leniency.

Should be open, check the student portal, if registration is open then go ahead, if you have no electives to pick it might be another week or 2..

Might be a day or 2, unless you had to repeat, in which case it's 5 days after the results come out. You should have gotten an e-mail anyway I'd say.

No repeats, fortunately and no email, unfortunately.

All registration for second years upwards in the faculty of Arts doesn't open till 9th September - except for my year in my course :P

And to answer your question about when it has to be paid, afaik must be paid before the end of Oct, after that your student card won't work for the library etc
