Did you ever get one and what did you reply?

I've had a few and usually ignore them but a friend got one recently saying "So when are we having our next girly night out?" and instead of ignoring or telling the sender that she had a wrong number he decided to reply with a photo of his balls :D

I found it amusing, she obviously didn't because she didn't reply...

I did get one once and replied thinking it was someone I knew who had changed their number, they wouldn't tell me who they were and basically started flirting with me over a number of weeks.

I eventually rang her and a guy answered the phone telling me in a threatening manner never to contact this number again.

After about a year I worked out that a couple of years previous to the 'first' text a colleague in work was telling me of her friend who was hard done by in love, it was valentines day and we sent her a valentines text from my phone pretending to be an admirer. I deleted her number straight away

She obviously kept the number and maybe texted me by mistake.

    Not the excat same but...

Our house number is 1 digit different from a Pizza place. So alot of the times we get people calling us by accident, we have on numerous occassions pretended to take the order and tell them we will be over in 30 minutes.

I normally text back replying - because if I do get a random text its most likely for a Job that I'm being asked to do! Hell its what you get when your number is on a card!

I got a text message saying:

"Had a great time last night, hope we can do it again soon. Glad you liked my sexy bum :)"

Gave me a good laugh, my husband seemed a bit put out though!

Got one a few months ago saying "Hello. This is Fr. _______ what time can I drop over with the bag".

I haven't gone anywhere a church for years so it certainly wasn't meant for me. I never replied. What all the stuff coming out about the priests lately, I was too scared to ask what was in the bag.

I knew two fellas once who were texting this girl in Dublin. She just some random girl that they didn't know. People used to do this a good bit when we were in 1st/2nd year. Now they knew they were texting the same girl but she didn't know that the two guys she was texting knew each other.

One day the two of them were sitting next to each other while texting her and one guy said something to the affect of "I'm in hospital. I was in a fight and the guy stabbed me".
The other guy texted her saying "I was in a fight last night and I stabbed some guy. I think I might have killed him. Hiding from the cops now. Don't tell anyone".

She of course started to panic. I think they stopped texting her after.

I got one a while back saying ' where are you ' ?

    I replied ' right here '

( still unsure who it was )

I get one every single new years and have been for the last 4 years i'd say. Nothing enormously unusual at first sight but the madness comes from the fact that this, presumably, unlucky in love girl is trying to track down the same fella every new years at the same number. Two things: 1. If you havent talked to the guy in years, maybe knock it on the head and 2. Why would a person keep a number saved after being repeatedly told it was the wrong one. I'm never impolite but it was hard not to be the last time. She had text as usual on new years, told as usual it was the wrong number only to text back 4 months later to say sorry.

Why not just meet up with her for a shag? She's obviously gagging for it :)

My friend got one about coming to view a flat or something, she told him to help her break in the bed and he was like "sorry im not gay m8". then we told him it wasnt who he thought it was, asked for her real name and she told him 'sorry im not gay m8'. was classic. :P

there was more to it but that was the funny bit.

I got a text from someone who offered to bring over a duvet and a DVD. I replied that while it was tempting, they had the wrong number.

Not in the same context as such, but a lad I went to school with was meeting a girl for a few weeks and was meant to send her a text saying " I want to see your fanny"

But sent it to his mother.

Not sure if she texted back

Had someone texting me asking what was up. I asked who it was and the person said 'Laura' so I assumed it was someone I knew. We went on to send loads of texts before I realised that this girl lived in Meath, and was totally not the Laura I knew. So I facebooked her and realised we even had friends in common. Was kinda wierd!

Our house phone is the same as the local smyths toy shop bar one digit. In the run up to Christmas we might get 1 or 2 wrongs calls a day looking for a certain toy. I always tell them they have dialled a wrong number.

Well one year this woman was insisting that she was onto the Smyths store and I was lying!!! She went nuts, ranting and raving. The husband was giving out in the background as well.

She semi calmed down and asked did I have the latest must have toy in stock ( think it was a play station). I said yes of course we'll hold one for you.

I sometimes think about the poor Smyths employee that had to deal with her!!

Got a text one evening a few years ago along the lines of 'hi baby, how are things?'

I text back that they had the wrong number, as I didn't want some poor sod to think they were being ignored by their girlfriend/boyf.

The next msg. was like 'ah, sorry, I take it your a bloke then. I'm in prision, just drugs, nothing violent, would you know any girls who'd be up for a bit of phone sex?'
I tend not to reply to random text messages now...

Shame really, in hindsight, I'm sure my friends would have been thrilled for me to pass on their numbers to a (non-violent) criminal.

I got one a few years ago saying something like:

Wrong Number: "I had a great time tonight, I'm still finding leaves up sleeves! My mum keeps asking me about them! :) "

Me: "Sorry but I think you have the wrong number"

Wrong Number: "Haha How do you know I do?"

Me: "Well I have no idea what you are talking about and I don't have your number saved"

    Wrong Number: "Haha, who's this?"

I didn't bother texting back at this stage but absolutely barraged with prank phone calls from these young lads/wans from Limerick City for the next six months. Awful abuse the pricks gave me!

Got one a few weeks back.

From someone asking "Well are you ready for that walk? Meet you down by the bog in five?"

I live in Dublin. Think I seen a bog once when myself and a mate were nicking turf. Anyways.

I texted back that I was "Stuck in the bog in the car. Help me!"

Never texted back. Bit ****e really...

Some pilates teacher must have given her students my number by accident because I regularly get texts from people asking when the next lesson is.
    I just ignore them all.

A few years back i kept getting calls meant for someone in line for a new job. It started off with a voicemail I ignored, but I got more and text messages to go too. I eventually texted back after a few days saying he had the wrong number.

Hope he got his job after all that...

Random Message: "We're meeting at [INSERT PLACE] at 21:00 tonight. Hope you can be there!"

    Me: "Who's this?"

Random Message: "Hello my little dear."

Didn't reply. Turned out to be my friend's dad whose friend had the same name as me, and he'd texted me because my friend had had her sim card in his phone. The last message disturbed me slightly because her dad was a pastor...

Got a text saying 'Hey There'.

I'd just lost my phone so didn't have most people's numbers. I responded back with 'Hey yourself - who's this?"

    Got no reply.

The next day I googled the number and one of those 'Who Called Me' sites came up. Turns out the number belonged to some dude from Monaghan who seemed to randomly text people all the time. Loads of girls had posted on the site saying how weird and creepy the messages from him were.

    People are strange.

I got a great one one night.

    was something like.

"Hiya, random question like but did ya ever think we could be more than friends? Like start meetin nd stuff. I really like ya like but its alright if you dnt wanna just sayin like"

I was gonna send a funny text back but felt guilty about so just told him he had the wrong number and good luck.

    another one was

"Hi anne. I left you a present in the hall, best of luck in all your travels hope to see you tonight"

    So I replied

"Thanks for the present! This isnt anne but I'll see you tonight anyway"

Then they phoned me. I didnt answer but they left me a message saying they were going to the guards.

have had a few, as well as a few calls, I usually play along with it, trying to wind them up.

Got a txt one night from a girl who thought she was texting her friend. I kept it going for a while, a few snotty txts later, she went ballistic, hurled abuse at me, and was going to call over to beat the crap out of me!!! It was really funny.

I left it for a few days, then I text'd her again telling her that she had a wrong number, and said that I hoped it taught her a lesson to get the number right in the first place!!

I'd a guy who text me awhile ago saying he'd be over in awhile to paint my house...
I replied saying 'thats nice of you, but i think you have the wrong number.'
He replied saying 'haha you almost got a free paint job there, sorry for bothering you'

Queue about two months later, I get another text saying he'd be over tomorrow to paint my room. Dude really wants to paint!!

Was having a party in my house one night when I got a call one night from a guy at about midnight wanting a taxi into town-so naturally I took his address and destination and told him there was not many drivers available but I'd try and have one out to him as soon as possible. The took my phone off the hook. My mates thought it was someone I knew because I was having a little chat with the guy-turns out I can be a bit of a bitch when drunk, but I thought it was funny at the time. Hope the poor guy hailed a taxi beofre closing...

Not a text ( have got a few, but none witty enough to post), but I got a phone call on my mobile one day from a guy thinking I was a digger driver or a builder or something about moving a skip or some rubble from outside his house.

I replied, I think you have a wrong number, and he said ah come on, you've been avoiding my calls for long enough now and not to pretend he had a wrong number now, and just to get that stuff moved.

So I told him sound, ya caught me out, I'll get that moved first thing in the morning.

    Didn't ring me back anyways.
