    Hi Mswoodyie,

Congrats Ballintubber Abbey is a fab location to get married in, and its only 20 minutes from Westport, any of the hotels around westport are lovely!!
We actually have our wedding booked for next Nov in the Castlecourt but we havent announced it!!! so cant recommend that hotel enough! but I have also been to weddings in the Atlantic Coast hotel, really nice, banquetting room is on the 3/4th floor so views are amazings,
The Wyatt hotel is supposed to be v- good aswel, havent attended a wedding there but have eaten in it and the food/sevice has always being excellant.
Knockranny House is a siter property of the castlecourt, again cannot fault service or food here either but it is a little pricey.
it all depends on what you want, what your budget is etc, remember to bargain with whichever hotel you go with,
I'm from the local area so if need any info just let me know!
    Happy Planning:D

I've worked at weddings in the Castlecourt and it is an excellent venue although it might be a little big for 100? If they accommodate 100 then I'd definitely have them on the shortlist.

not Westport, but the Park Inn Mulranny was fantastic for our wedding day - super service, food top notch and couldn't do enough for you to accomodate our wine/ extras that we brought in for the day
helped that we had a scorcher of a day so the view from the venue was just incredible - many guests are still raving about it:)

Castlecourt is lovely but I agree the function room is large and 100 people maybe lost in it. The park inn mullranny is fab and is in the most scenic location.

You could always use the Westport Plaza hotel. It is owned by the same people as the Castlecourt and is a part of the same building. They can cater for parties of 100.

Im going married in the Castlecourt in January so had a look around both. The only reason we didn't go for it was because we have 160 people going

Thanks everyone for the comments. Viewed the Castlecourt and loved the room but too big for 100 guests! We were considering the Atlantic Coast but worried the room a bit small with slanted roof and windows although views are fab. Any opinions on Hotel Westport? Haven't viewed the Wyatt yet but going to do so next week.

Hi there, I got married in Hotel Westport 2 years ago and I would recommend it to ANYONE! It was just amazing. The private facilities were great for our guests. the patio area was absolutely amazing and everyone had champagne and canapes out there before going in to the wedding. We took our wedding pics down by the river on the grounds and it saved a load of time going somewhere else for the pics. I couldnt honestly praise it enough. There was loads of parking and another great thing was that we didnt loose any of our crowd to the pubs up the road, the hotel is too far for heels even though it is in town, its nicely set in a cul-de-sac. I couldnt give this place enough praise. it was brilliant. and not to mention the food, that was just top class. I think you'd really be missing out if you didnt consider it for your wedding. 100 would be a lovely number in their cara suite.

How about Knockranny house hotel. www.khh.ie

Knockranny is a beautiful hotel, we considered that too but the room is in the middle of the building and theres no natural daylight or there was no private area outside to have the pre-wedding drinks except outside the front door with cars driving thru the crowd - not safe and not at all picteuresque. A beautiful setting tho, but not for a wedding we thought.

I'm probably a bit late replying to this, but I checked out all the hotels in Westport when we got engaged so I hope this might help you.

Knockranny House Hotel is gorgeous! Fab views and a lovely hotel but is pretty expensive. Castlecourt is lovely too and havent heard anything bad about service/food etc but guests tend to disappear to local pubs while they're waiting for the band to set up this is the one thing that put me off the hotel.
We went to see the Atlantic Coast hotel and the manager could not have been nicer or more helpful.
But my pick would be the Westport Woods. It may not look as impressive from outside as the other hotels, but it's lovely inside, the wedding area is downstairs away from the rest of hotel and overlooks the gardens. There is a beautiful wood and lake, with views of Westport House which is lovely for photos. we went to see the hotel twice and the wedding co-ordinater could not have been more helpful or organised.
    hope this helps.
