Stayed at the NL Hotel in June.
We had the economy room in the basement which was fine.

Good breakfasts, great coffee and about 4 minutes walk from the Leidseplein. Close enough for easy access to the nightlife and tram, but far enough away not to be loud at night.

we stayed here for my hubbies 40th four years ago for 3 nights. tram stop just a minute walk away and the square close by had a few nice cafes, bars etc. close to the canals etc and the city centre and anything else was accessible by tram.

The room was really funky - small (but i think thats par for the course) but comfortable. The door into the bathroom was glass mind you so hope that doesnt put you off although the loo is in its own little 'room'. Not much of a view out the window - looking into a another building but that didnt bother me. No issues with noise etc.

We didnt bother eating or drinking in the hotel so cant comment on that. Staff were helpful enough.

Cant remember what I paid but it wasnt extortionate - loved Amsterdam btw and would go back anythime.
