Student email

Right so i've registered already and paid the fees so i have my campus account set up. I tried to take a look at the blackboard on the NUIG site but it asks me for a username and password. I assumed it would be the same details as my cass account but it wouldn't let me log in using that info. I've spent a while trying to work it out and its saying something about using outlook live. Anyone know how i supposed to set this up? any help would be great thanks!

Blackboard and student mail are two different things.

To log into blackboard go here use your CASS ID number and password.

To log into studentmail go here. You should have been given an email address from the college that will look something like initial.surname<number>@nuigalway.ie. Your password will still be the same as your CASS password

When i try to log into the blackboard with my CASS ID and password it says im not giving the right information. ive rechecked it and im definitely putting in the right number and password.

As far as i know i never recieved an email address from the college and i found somewhere that lets you get it back if you've forgetten it by putting in your CASS number but when i do that it just says "unknown"

Okay I've sorted out the email thing! but i still can't get into the blackboard..still telling me im putting in the wrong info

When did you register? I think it takes two days for them to process your Blackboard information.

I only registered on the 29th..that might be it so! i'll just give it another day so, thanks

hi! am the only way i could get to it was to to go bk into the online register thing and sign in. It should be there somewhere in ure contact info across from ure other email. Hope this helps

Go to your registration main-page (the one with your addresses, telephone numbers and your student photo on it). See the section where it says "Term Address", go to the column with "Email" or something similar on it and the email address that is there is your student mail. For example, mine looks like this _._________2@nuigalway.ie — your name will probably be in uppercase letters.

ok thanks. I did that and used the temporary password of galway date and month of my birthday but it doesnt work

I suggest you ring the University in the morning and they'll probably be able to help you out.

I know this isn't really to do with the student email, but I didn't feel the need to start a new thread about it.

I've been checking up on my CASS and it appears that nothing has changed with it since I first activated it, it looks like this;

Is this a problem or is that perfectly normal to everyone else, because going by this link on the NUI Galway website I was expecting at least a few links to my other NUIG services like Blackboard, MyCampus and other stuff like that, but all I'm getting, as you can see, is the settings. It is just a quick query about it, not much hassle with it, I just want to make sure it's right.

You will only need to login to CASS to change your password - its not used for anything else.

The information in your link is saying that the password you specify is used for PC Suites, NUIGWiFi, Blackboard, Library Systems, Self-Service Registration, MyCampus, Placement, Exam timetable and Exam results.

CASS is just the student LDAP service. It's a Single Sign-On system that allows you to use one password for most campus services. Nothing more, nothing less.
