It is a waste of tax payers money to pay for somebody from Galway to do a course in Dublin that they could do in Galway

The government doesn't pay a students rent or travel expenses. You can still receive the full grant living at home btw.

Every single Dub I know has either a parent, grandparent or great grandparent from the country. If they kept the boggers out there'd be no Dublin. I bet you have bogger blood in you too!

Some colleges have better reputation in particular areas of study and give you a more sought after qualification for prospective employers. The quality of lecturers can vary widely also. I think the college (and therefore its location) can be important for students.

That would be more middle class Dubliners who have carrot cruncher relations

Well Dublin generally has better colleges/universities than down in the back o' beyonds in Galway.

    It's a distance thing isn't it?

When I went to college I was just within a certain distance which meant I wasn't entitled to a full grant. Lived in Bray and commuted to Thomas street. They told me it was literally just the cut off.

My friend who went to the same college but commuted a little further beyond Bray got twice the amount I did.

I finished college this year after getting the full amount for 4 years. The distance limit has changed, so if I were to apply again I'd be a few miles too close to the college. Sucks for everyone in my town planning on heading to that college.

Then you should know 1 whose parents, grand parents and great grand parents are all from Dublin! Making your original point invalid

There are plenty out there :)

I have no parents, grandparents or great grandparents from 'the country'.

At least I now know that Dublin is a separate country to 'the country'.

Must be more than a few students in Dublin from other places...who spend money on rent, food, booze etc.

Remove that and you are taking a big chunk out of the revenues for assorted businesses.

You don't think about stuff too much do ya?

No not unless you pay back what you owe regarding college accommodation. You get so much back on your deposit if you haven't wrecked the place.

Some peoples' weekly commuting costs are equal and sometimes more expensive than rent. Are these people also wasting taxpayer's money?

I totally agree, thus keeping all the "bleedin' skangers" where they belong!

Im interested to hear the OP's view on this matter and why he/she feels the way he/she does all they have dont thus far is make a statement, and made no explanation as to why they feel the way they do.

I'm also interested in hearing about the Op's new (maybe improved) educational system.

Dubs are the boggers of Europe.

And the northsiders of Dublin are the boggers of Dublin.

So say it once, say it loud: I'm bogger and I'm proud.

I would hazard to guess that OP's views on this are simplistic and retarded.
