Lathering question.

For years I've whipped up my batch of lather in the bowl and then brushed it onto my face. However over the last couple of years I've gradually changed my regime and now I mix the lather on my face.
Note, I tend to leave my bristle for a couple to a few days between shaves.

I pre-soak and more often then not use a hot facecloth for a few minutes. Then I take up the soap on a very wet brush and slaver it over my face. I use a boar brush, I prefer the stiffer bristles.
I'll then spend a couple of minutes aggressivly brushing and working up the lather.
When the lather is plentyful I give myself a vigorous finger massage working the soap deep into my skin. This kills off most of the lather but a quick brush over again raises it nicely.
Then the shave goes ahead as normal.

This is the way I've had most barber shaves too.

I just feel that working up the lather on my face rather then in the bowl massages my face, lifts the folicles and ultimatly gives me a better shave.
So, lather up on the face or in the bowl? In what way is lathering in the bowl better then lathering directly on the face?

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

I spend about the same amount of time in the bowl as on my face.
I like having the bowl to keep the lather warm.

Might try massaging the later into my face next shave :)
