Sony Bravia HDMI laptop issue

    Hi
Not sure if this is the right place to post but looking for a little help.
I bought a Sony Bravia KDL-40ex401 and connect it to my Acer Aspire 6530g laptop by HDMI.
Intermittingly, I get a blue colour across the entire screen and it will either fix itself within a couple of seconds or i need to force it back to normal by either disconnecting the cable and re connecting or switch to a different HDMI channel and back. It can go an hour or two without happening or can happen 10 times in 5 minutes. Has anyone else had this issue?
I have googled and I have tried some steps which I will list below. Sony Support suggested it might be the laptop but it isn't. I have put some pics here too but I think they'll go up sideways but it'll give you the gist:

    I tried other hdmi cables
I tried all 4 hdmi ports
I disconnected my sky hd box and tried without that connected
I updated the tv to the latest software version
I updated my graphics drivers on the laptop
I reset the tv to factory defaults
I tried the laptop on an LG and a philips tv by hdmi and its fine
I check is it just when playing video but it happens even when just displaying the desktop.
I've followed all the different suggested setting in ATI control centre
Can't remember what else but I'm sure I tried everything.

Sony support suggested I use VGA connection as obviously the tv is fine because the sky box has no issues!!!!

I can find some stuff about this issue on google but not an actual solution.

I'm waiting on a call back from Sony, the rep said she will look into it and call me in a few hours

    Hope someone can help
