Hi all , doing test on Monday & will be spending a good few hours in Wicklow over the weekend with my other half - any particular tricky areas I should focus on?

Very hilly in Wicklow, make sure you're 100% comfortable with hill starts.
The left turns onto the main street can be tricky enough, remember, peep and creep.
Theres also a nasty enough series of turns when you go left out of Glebemount, right at the lights and then immediate right again. Watch your positioning and observations.

Thanks for the reply loobylou - not familiar with Glebemount so will make sure to spend a bit of time practicing around there...

Also, be aware that they can take you well out of Wicklow town and up to nearly Rathnew as well. Some of the housing estates up there around the outskirts can be very nasty; the first time I did my test (and failed), the reverse around the corner was done on a corner AND a hill. Car cut out 3 times on me on that... 'orrible.

But you might get 'lucky' (if you can call it that) and be kept mostly to around the town itself, which at times isn't too bad. Just keep observation open, progress along nicely and stay in the correct gears and you'll be grand.

Watch for the speed limit on the new road (that starts down at the harbour, not too far from test centre at the Murrough), as it can be very easy to forget it's 60 and just clip along too fast.

Wicklow isn't as daunting as some suspect; it's just hilly and certain areas are awkward, but it's no worse than some spots, really.

    Good luck!
