I'm looking to spend roughly 1000 euro on a combo amp and i need some recommendations as i have no idea, basically i'm looking for an amp that would be good for grungy/alternative rock, something with harsh heavy distortion and a warm clean tone too, nothing too metally.

I love Matt Bellamy's , Kurt Cobain's and Brian Moloko's (Placebo) guitar sound.

I'll be Using a Pedal Board with effect pedals for the actual sounds. I'v just noticed that sometimes the sound i get is very different depending on what amp im using using the same pedal settings.

Marshall DSL or TSL JCM series, they're prob the best all round rock/metal amp

Bellamy uses DIEZEL amps from Germany.

Kurt used Marshall and Mesa live. In the studio he also used Vox AC30s and Fender.

Brian Molko uses a Fender twin, Mesa and Marshall.

    So..

Basically, if you're gonna be playing mostly distorted, find an amp that distorts in a way you find pleasant to your ears. If you're gonna use mostly clean-ish tones find a good clean amp that will take pedals well.

If you have the money, buy a big multi-channel amp like a nice Mesa.

Gibson clean tones aren't great. Fender's can do modern tones with the right pedals, as can AC30s.

If you REALLY want to get it perfect you'll need at least two amps.

I habe about 7 or 8 different od and distortion pedals, some boutique and costing up to 400e but I have to say Im blown away by the TC electronic novadrive which Im using into a fender deville, and i also sometimes use an all tube 40 watt.I didnt believe that you could find as versatile a pedal for the money( about 280 fro Thomann).Have a look on youtube there's loads of vids, you can get the whole spectrum of distortion and od sounds from it.it's all analog but with digital controls, hence you can go from 80s higain to stevie ray by only pressing one pedal.Myadvice, buy it and a fender combo(deluxe or deville) you wont go wrong
