Hi what make is it? What is the output of the stove or room size? New build/ insulation levels. I can then give some stoves that will be suitable:D

    Hi,
It is a No.7 stove output is prob 6-8kw. It looks like the potbelly's that were in schools years ago. It is in a room about 14'x14' but we keep the kitchen door open so as we can also heat it. Our house is a 3yr old, very well insulated timber-frame house. It is very quick to heat up but can also be very quick to cool down. The stove we have at the minute is impossible to control and at times will eat through fuel. Also there is no firebrick in it and if it is burning well the bottom of the stove goes red with the heat... this can be scarey!
So I want a stove that I can have some control over the heat output and also that I can stack it up at night so the rooms will be warm in the morning... without the fear of the house burning to the ground.
However there are a number of catches.
    1. I have a fireplace built around the No.7 so we are limited by depth approx 430mm and width approx 480mm
    2. The flue we have at the minute is 4" in the room and then adapting to 5"from the ceiling to outside.

    Thanks for your help...

Hi I have had a trawl of the www and have found these stoves with a 4 inch flue. Not many about as most are now 5 inch minimum.

    Arrow ecoburn 5
    arrow acorn 4
    Hamlet hardy 5
    Hamlet solution 5

These above are made by arrow stoves.

    Snug AX1
    The harridge 5

Your room requires around 3.5 kw to heat it. There is such a small choice in stoves with 4 inch flues that all of these are rated at 5kw max to room. It should be enough to heat your well insulated chalet. My choice would be the arrow ecoburn 5.

I have not looked at the sizes, so hope they are of use. use www.google.co.uk to search for these stoves.

    http://www.aarrowfires.com/our-range-of-stoves/ecoburn-range/ecoburn-freestanding.html

Good luck in your search. There may be some irish makes with 4 inch flue as well.

    Well Stove Fan,

I went a bit nuts today and bought a stove!! Got a 5" - 5" twin wall adaptor so that will get rid of my 4" Flue and I chose a Waterford Stanley Oscar... Although it was a close call. I had actually ordered an Olymberyl Gabriel stove which is identical to the Oscar but the Oscar is plain and the Gabriel has a diamond design down the side which I think would have bugged me. The difference in price was approx €300!

Thanks for your help.... Now, for my next project...solar panels!! Off to do a bit of research!
