in difficulty with money

I'm in difficulty with money in that my wage has dropped and I can no longer afford the rent on my apartment. I was in the accommadation and property forum not so long ago and they told me I'm being charged too much for a one bed apartment in a rural village - 520 a month. I was onto the landlord and he's not willing to drop and with my new wage I'd be just about able for 400 a month.

So I've very little options. Due to the locality, work and public transport or the lack of it I'm unable to move away from the area.
    There's no other rentals around.
Family home - my mother depises me and always has because I'm female. Her irresponsible adults boys are living at home and that's all she wants. Nor am I interested into being roped into providing finiancially for this sexist, irresponsible family.

    So what do I do.

Look around your local area for other properties, give your landlord whatever amount of time you are required to that you will be leaving that you are unable to pay that much rent, this may cause him to back down and if not, he dosen't deserve a penny more of your money. You could rent a three bedroom house for between €80 to €100 a week and this guy is arrogant and you should be paying him around €60 - €70 a week and not a penny more.

how about a house share - vastly cheaper than renting on your own - and i doubt very much that you're the only person in your location in this position.

other than that, have you thought about moving away completely? if you're not well paid i assume you aren't in love with your job - there are jobs out there, maybe not brilliant jobs, but jobs none the less...

Are you working full-time OP? Any kids to support / other out-goings? With details of your income and out-goings we might be able to help.

Top of the head calculations tell me that even on minimum wage, you'd have around €900 a month after that rent, which, while hardly leaving you enough to be flathulach should be plenty to survive on.

Edit: if there aren't any house-shares nearby, are any of your friends living in their own places that might like a tennant? Plenty of people in this country that could probably do with an extra few quid towards their mortgages at the moment...

There is usually always other places to rent regardless of location. The local papers classifieds section is usually a good place to start. Another thing could be to ask around your friend see if they know any good landlords.
Sit down and look at what you can comfortably afford, make a budget and take the time to look.
Like the OP said its worth saying it to your landlord and put the feelers out because if,and I assume you are, a good tenent they are hard to come by.
The landlord will know this so keep it in mind. Best of Luck!
