    Hi All,
We're hoping to have our wedding reception in Enniscrone.
Would love some advice or reviews on the two hotels there, The Ocean Sands and The Diamond Coast .... food, layout, function room etc
Very torn between which one to book!
    Cheers

Both are lovely and the quality of food is excellent. The diamond coast is very popular for weddings at the moment. Have you visited either place yet. Personally I think the diamond coast is a little more oppulent. At the moment wedding packages are including an ice sculpture surrounded with champagne for all guests on arrival at the hotel its included in package price and is a nice touch.

was at a wedding and a family functions at the Diamond coast a couple of years back under the old management and was far from impressed at the service or food.

Under the new management (Ulster bank appointed IIRC) things have got much better on both fronts. The last time I was there I was just eating and it was spot on. And my stay related problems were due to inept management, which seems to be fixed.
Even just the general appearance of the place has improved greatly. No wires sticking out randomly on corridors or unkemt lawns or pylons for lights lying about in the car park. Its now a damn nice hotel.

One positive on the diamond coast is that they also have self catering houses out the back (or at least had a few years back - the hotel being built by a developer you'd expect such strangeness!)
They are very nice though and for guests a nice way to enjoy a longer break without breaking the bank.

    Thanks for that.
We're heading down this weekend to have a look. Have been to the Ocean Sands before but not the Diamond Coast.
From their websites the Oceans Sands appear to have a better deal but I will still have a look at both.
Was mainly concerned about the quality of the food.

The food in the Diamond Coast is very nice, I've been to a few weddings since the takeover and was always impressed - it didn't taste like it came out of a microwave!

I was at a great wedding at Diamond Coast recently we were annoyed when we arrived at 4:00 our rooms were not ready but were delighted next day after drinking till dawn in residents bar that we were not expected s to check out until 2:00pm. Food was very good with lots of nice touches. Service was excellent, one problem was that a few of crowd slipped off to local pubs after meal making dance floor painfully sparse.

Hi, unfortunately I would have to disagree with all the above. The hotel was thrown up and if you pay attention to detail, the cracks are there to be seen. The food was lovely but the rooms and actual hotel were very bad. Also there is no character at all. We thought about the diamond coast but could not give the money fr a place that should be knocked down and built again properly.

I was also peeved that a hotel built on the west doesn't make use of stunning views of the Atlantic. Also to be taken into consideration is the actual ballroom, which is poorly laid out and very dark as the windows look out onto chalet's and give no view at all.

HI, Thanks for your advice. We viewed both .. and priced both! Decided to go with the Ocean Sands, which we are very happy with, extremely accommodating and helpful. Looking forward to our big day next July :)

We were at a wedding in the Ocean Sands there 2 weeks ago, you will not be disapponited, the food and the staff, everything was just first class! Such a lovely wee spot, not even the rain "dampened" the day :D

    Congrats and best of luck
