Sharon , any joy with your arched stove? I have seen the one on that site and the others seem to have identical images. Did you go with it ?
I am in the same boat and wondered how it worked out or what solution you went with.

I went with the arched inset in the end, looks well when done - i think anyway! Needed to cut off the canopy part of fireplace first so would fit properly but would never know cos its completly covered now. Overall you don't get as much heat as stove that sits out on hearth but I'm happy:)

Thanks for getting back on about this.
I think I might go with this then. Did you get it from that website? I have seen about 3 or 4 in different places. I guess that 4KW will have to do as this seems the max output of them. either way it has to be warmer than an open fire.

    Hi Finn
I was looking at doing something simular and was looking at a Cara Insert Stove, Solid Fuel from Stanley. I was talking to the guy in the shop today and he was telling my I could get an adapter for it to compensate for the curved hood for something like 70 euro. The only reason i say this is because its a much more powerful insert stove 6.5kw.
He didn’t have one in the shop so he is getting in one for me to get a look at it. I checked on the Stanley web site and they are available but no pic to see how it works out

hi. i put in the stanley cara arched stove about 2 months ago and i have to say it is brilliant. The heat from it is unbelivable. I know it is on the more expensive side of stoves but for me it was well worth the money!! My old fire place arch had to be cut out but you would not see any difference where the new fireproof arch went. Def would recommend the Cara.:D

Hope you don't mind me butting in.

I was looking recently at that Cara stove. While it's easy to find its price, I've no idea what it will cost to fit. Can any of you here give me an idea of what a ballpark fitting cost would be?

    Thanks

Any chance of a photo? O the heat design one that is originally mentioned and the one I was considering - you dont seem to have to take anything out and you can keep the design on the surround , so there wouldnt be much rooting and upsetting the fireplace generally. What exactly did you have to cut out ?

Can adaptors be used with any regular square sized stove or are they specifically arched stoves themselves.
    Thanks

my original fireplace was arched , the cara stove is square shaped so the arch on my original fire had to be cut off and the new piece to let the cara fit attached. if your fireplace is not arched then you will not have to do any cutting!

Thanks for that. I had a look at the stanley Cara and it looks great. Not sure why they call it an arched inset as it is just cut into the surround. Will go to local shop and see how long delivery might take. Really like the look of it .
Is it hard to get at the chinmey for it to be cleaned?
Is there anything else I need to know about it or getting it or installing it ? Is it the plumber that cuts the piece away?

    sorry for so many questions

    hey huggiebear
thanks for getting back so quickly. il have a look at cutting out the curve in the surround, if not il replace the surround with a square one.
    thanks again

I saw one of these this afternoon. The back of the Cara is square and it is accompanied by a metal arch shaped plate that has a square hole in it . The stove slots into it so that it looks like it has been cut through. I willl see if \i can get a photo of it .Think this is what I will go with .

They both sound quite similar in terms of the adapter piece. When I was looking round before purchasing the stanley store did not have any mention of a fitting for a curved fire opening so went with the heat design one instead of replacing whole fire surround. It replaces a gas fire for me so definatly feel the difference now
