A mate of mine gave me 2 bales of black turf briquettes yesterday. They came from Estonia

Im wondering if they are ok to use in my Stovax multi fuel stove.

I read my Stovax manual/booklet and it say that peat and briquettes are ok to burn in the stove.

So is black turf briquettes ok to burn and will they burn as well as a normal Bord Na Mona briquette bale??

    Thanks.:)

paddy147, Yes most of Donegal have solid fuel stoves running on turf or mixtures of turf and logs or turf and coal.

Just wondering if there briquettes are the plastic wrapped ones that are for sale in garage forecourts - Saw some on offer for €10 for 4 bales - Wouldn't mind trying them - Are these the ones you got ?

Yep - those are the ones I have seen - I saw them in an oil depot in Sligo that also sells solid fuel. I have been putting a few bags of coal into the boot every time I have filled up so have a nice stash ready for the winter. Might pick up some of those briquettes the next time I am there and will see what they are like.
