DSiXL not charging orange light flash

    Folks,

The young lads XL is snookered. When charger (2 different ones) plugged in, the orange light comes on for 1 second and then goes out. A quick look on google tells me it is fuse F2 on main board. I opened up the XL and it is all surface mounted stuff. Could'nt find F2 and google gives it's location on DS lite and DS. It is not mounted in the same location.

A repair by Nintendo is €65.

    I have 3 options

A: try finding F2 and drop solder on it to complete circuit. Not looking likely considering the electronic circuit size

B: send it to Nintendo at a minimum cost of €65

C: Buy a second hand one. Surely loads were traded for the 3DS. Anyone have an idea of cost from gamestop etc. I would'nt touch a 360 or a PS3 secondhand but I am considering a handheld console as a better bet.

What do ye think or has anyone info on F2 repair on the board

Well you opened it up so nintendo won't take it back since you've voided the terms and conditions. So that's option B out the window.

I was aware of that but I searched for a warranty seal, inside and out and there was'nt any. I know my PS3 has one and you could'nt miss it.

The DSiXL seems to command silly money given the price drop of the 3DS. €65 for a repair is a bit steep and I am wondering if I just get a refurb when returning it to Nintendo, like the Xbox360 when it kicks the bucket.
