hi just looking for some advice I'm going to paint a teak front door with gloss paint so I was going to sand it down with medium sandpaper.
    1. how much do I need to sand off?
2.is there any primer I need to apply and also do I wash the door with white spirit.
    3.Any other tips or hints?

    Thanks...

Hiya. What is used on the door at the moment? If its a varnish might be worth your while trying to strip it all off. Try nitromors(spelling) or something similar. Gloves required as it can burn the skin a little. If its a stain, a decent sanding might well do. Then hit it with an exterior undercoat, try and get this tinted close to the top coat colour. Fill any areas that needed with a good filler and caulk if needed. Sand between coats lightly. Second undercoat and gloss. Make sure to dust throughly and invest in a tack cloth, as this will lift excess dust that a duster won't. Keep your paints clean, and the gloss spotless as this will reflect on the finish.

PM me with your email address and I can send on pics of a recent door like this that I did recently. Sometimes it easier to see what you got to do.

    Hope it helps a little.
