Can I apply for a CE Scheme?

    Hi all,

    I am after seeing a few jobs that I could apply for but they are CE schemes. I'm 24 on jsb and just finished a 9 month Fas course also but still no job! Neways I read on the criteria that you have to be 25 and in receipt of sum benefit.. What I want to know is .. They say if you have done recognised training it may help you meet the requirements.. I've done a few other Fas courses so would these be taken into account? I really want to apply for one of these jobs! I send Fas an email last week but they never got back to me..suprise surprise:-(

    The criteria for participating on the Community Employment programme are based on age and length of time in receipt of various social welfare payments. In general, the Part-time Integration Option is for people of 25 or over who are receiving social welfare payments for 1 year or more, and people of 18 years or over in receipt of disability-related payments. The Part-time Job Option is for people who are 35 or over and in receipt of social welfare payments for 3 years or longer.

    Certain groups such as travellers and refugees aged 18 or over are eligible for both options. If you qualify under the criteria but do not wish to take up the option yourself, there are certain conditions under which you can do a spousal swap.

    Please note that eligibility to participate on the Community Employment programme is linked to those in receipt of an Irish social welfare payment (where specified). Those persons not meeting the criteria under the Part-time Integration or Part-time Job Options, or who are signing for credits, or are receiving social welfare benefits from a different country, are not eligible to participate on Community Employment.

    I got an interview for a CE scheme. I'm just wondering if anyone knows am I eligible before I attend the interview. I'm 24 and have been on jobseekers allowance for 1year 3 months. Going by fas website I don't think I am because I'm not over 25 or not a traveller etc. Thanks for your help

    Unfortunately no you have to be 25:-( I was looking to do one of those a few months ago nd was told same, that I needed to me 25!!:mad:
