I have ordered pieces from rsov before(molle pouches mostly) and am wondering can i import pistols from there as long as they are under the joule? or do I have to go to an irish retailer for it?

Once they are under 1J things should be ok but if you have the cash buy irish :D

At least you know it is safe and the Garda wont take it to be crushed if the supplier sends you something over the limit.

Legally members of the public can only buy from Irish retailers but this is not currently being enforced. You should be ok but there is no guarantee, even if it is under 1 joule.

Unless there is a massive saving #i would buy from an Irish retailer

The importation ban comes from a European directive to remove gun-shaped items from the postal service. Although it is written in law, it is not yet being enforced - this does not make it illegal to import.

Before the importation ban even comes close to being in effect, you will see retailers' licenses coming in, as that is the first step.

You can import any airsoft device as long as it is under 1 joule of energy. When it lands, you will be liable for any VAT due (from outside of the EU). If there is a specific pistol you are looking for, it would probably be worth checking out the Irish retailers to see if it's in stock - lesser waiting time, and you have a much greater comeback for faulty goods...with much less hassle
