Next Tuesday, September 6th, anybody have an idea what time kick off is?

I know Russia are a few hours ahead of us so not sure. Can't find info anywhere on it.

    Anybody know it?

    Use your loaf man!

All times in CET, so 4pm in Ireland.

That's a bit of a joke, having a crucial qualifying game on during normal work hours.

It's no different to us hosting a team with a different time zone and us having a game on at 7:45pm. What suits for one country may not suit for another

It's not on during working hours in Russia though...

Most teams in Europe are CET or GMT though. I doubt we've inconvenienced too many teams over the years by kicking off at 7.45. Given the importance of the match, you'd hope UEFA, Russia and the FAI could come to an arrangement where the game could be watched by fans in both countries at a reasonable hour; either on a weekend, or late evening kick-off.

Its 1700hrs CET. CET is GMT+1, which is what we're on at the moment, ie according to the UEFA website, its on at 5

Coverage starts on Network 2 at 3:30pm, so I'd assume KO is 4pm.

    3.30pm in 1996?

Ireland's on GMT, so -1 from CET.

Well I'm sure our 7.45 midweek kickoffs aren't greeted with enthusiasm by the school going children of Russia, Turkey, Greece, Israel, Kazakstan etc when we play them in qualifiers.

Seriously, home team has choice of all this stuff, and does whats best for their team prospects, and their viewing market.

As for having all Russias home games at the weekend, jesus fcking christ.

Ireland's on GMT, so -1 from CET.

We're on GMT during the winter, for daylight saving we move to GMT+1 for the summer months. UEFA have it listed as 1700 CET, so unless that's supposed to be 1700 CEST, that's 1700hrs here

Last time I'd checked there weren't full list of times on the UEFA website :o

Silly me though, checking the FAI website for info, they've never had kick off times, well after the games they'd put them up

Anyway, just booked the time off work so all sorted :D

Do you mean Ireland moves to French time 'for the summer months'?

Find it hard to believe that if it's 6pm in Ireland, its 7pm in London and 6pm in Paris.

Daylight savings and the timezones are 2 different things.

I'm not confusing anything, using GMT as the standard meridian is fairly common, you know worldwide and that

Well you know, if they want to play in the European championship, they could try to accommodate the European teams.

No, the UK move to +1 for the summer also, hence Greenwich in London is only on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) 6 months a year

I don't know if France apply daylight saving, but if so they would move from GMT+1, which is CET, to GMT+2, which is CEST for the summer months

Personally, I hate all this BST, CET lark, if everything is stated relative to GMT it avoids confusion

GMT never changes, its a fixed reference.

Whereas we move the clock forward 1 hour for seven months of the year and thus are on BST. People still continue to say GMT though for ease of reference as we are always at the same time as Greenwich in London, though Greenwich itself is not on GMT during these 7 months.

    edit: as tommyhaas said.

Dont forget most of Europe also have there on Summer time and will also move 1 hour ahead during the summer months. So kick off is 1600 here

I think that's the source of the confusion, Europe moving forward one hour puts them on CEST as oppose to CET, whereas UEFA have (obviously incorrectly) stated it as CET on their website

I always have to work out time zone's in work when we're moving across zones etc, and I quiet like it. Neither my bird nor any of me mates will listen to my ramblings about time zones, but occasionally football, albeit it accidentally provides me with an outlet for my ramblings so I'm taking full advantage here..
