Diesel Car Service

Wondering if someone could give me a bit of info on a diesel Service needs. i previously had a petrol ford focus and did the servicing myself, Oil, filter, air filter and sparks. Easy stuff and saves a few bob!

Ive changed my car and gone for my first diesel and its now due a service. Mileage is low and has been serviced twice before from the book only doing oil and filter at last service 37K. Im now on 55K and 13 months since. It uses long life oil etc and i have got that and presume i need to to do oil filter

The car is a 2008 VW Passatt 2.0L TDI so my question is what should I change at 55K for a Diesel?

Oil, Oil Filter, Air Filter are my thoughts but what about Fuel filter (sounds Messy) pollen filter (saw in the book) and what others?

    Thanks

Just serviced my own on Sunday. Nothing to it really. Before you go spending money you don't need to, check to see what was carried out to the car on the previous service. Is it 55,000klms or 55,000miles?

As a point of reference Oil+Oil Filter for starters. Let me know what milage is on the car excatly and I'll try and point you in the right direction.

If its only had oil service inspections up untill now then its due an inspection service which should be every 60k/3 years. All services include and oil and filter change. Long life oil is not essential as you can switch the car car to fixed interval servicing which most do. Meaning its due a service every 15k and doesn't require long life oil.

It is essential that low ash oil of the correct VAG spec is used to keep the DPF as healthy as possible.

Brake fluid is due its first change at 3 years.

Fuel filter is due every 30k,

    Pollen filter every 60k/2 years.

All above assuming its an Irish 08 car therefor in KMS.

Link above doesnt work. Would lik eot do fuel filter especially if its like il filter as it easy. just sounds messy as oil is drained while doing filter but diesel isnt :-) it is pop on like oil filter? no special tools other than something to get the housing off?

if it still does not work its a post in here which i have commented on. does not show filter change, but does give an idea of the things to beware of
if you are doing the pollen filter you should check out the area where cables enter car to avoid future problems. we are only in km couple of years so usually they refer to miles in the services, but it never does any harm to play it safe i think
ps, if you do not mind saying, where in ireland are you

If your doing a service you'll also need a Jack and a lever/pry bar and check all the bushings, check the wheel bearings, brake pipes, check for broken springs, check brake pads/discs,check all lights etc etc etc

What you mentioned is an oil + filters change not a service ;)
