    All,

    I'm looking at putting new grips on my irons for two reasons.

    1. They are slightly worn.
    2. I feel they are the wrong size for me.

    I'm looking at golf pride multicomponent new decade grips.

    I would like to know if anyone can answer the below questions on fitting these this for me.
    • will any double sided sticky tape suffice for this task
    • what type of solvent will suffice for this task
    I grip the club up near the butt of the grip even on my driver as thats what feel comfortable. I measured my hand size as per golf grips direct link here. http://www.golfgrips-direct.com/acatalog/Grip_Sizing.html

    I'm 8 1/4 inches for measurement 1 (wrist crease to top of middle finger) and 3 1/2 inches for measurement 2 (middle finger web to top) I think that means middle finger length.

    Based on these measurements I should be standard with 3 to 4 wraps. Is this correct???

    Thanks

    I don't know if normal double sided tape that you would get in a stationary shop would suffice, but I think some hardware stores sell a heavy duty double sided tape which would work.

    As far as solvent goes, I use simple old white spirits. It is good because it evaporates quickly leaving the tape still good and tacky.

    I would think from what you are saying 3/4 wraps should be fine. Be careful never to put on too many wraps as it makes releasing the club more difficult.

    I've used double sided carpet tape before, it worked fine (I got it in B&Q or somewhere like that). White spirits as a solvent for me too.

    Your measurements sound right, because thats my sizes too. I put an extra wrap 1/2inch from the butt, for a more secure feel. But 4 wraps of tape is quite a lot, especially if the tape you are using is thick. i would look for larger grips.
    Most of the tape supplied with grips seems little more than masking tape, but Woodies do a double sided masking tape thats very similar.
    white spirits++

    Bubba runs with 11 wraps on the left hand. His club looks deformed. Poulter also has 7 on the right hand AFAIK. Would be interesting to try this larger lower hand grip setup at some stage.
