repeat exams

    hello i,m a mature student 1st year archaeology in i.t sligo i really love the archeaology course but found physics very tough to be honest i did the summer exams and passed everthing but not the physics i repeated it last weekend on the science paper done ok, but im just concerned that if i don't pass the module in my repeats can i carry it over to second year that subject ? the reason i ask is i think i would have to pay the registation fee again and i,d lose my grant as far as i know any body with any experience of this i,d love to here from you thank you:cool:

    As far as I know you won't be able to carry it forward into 2nd year, they stopped allowing this last year or the year before I think.
    You would either have to repeat the whole year and attend all lectures again meaning you would have to pay the registration fee and may also be eligible for tuition fees. I think the other option is to repeat externally, ie Don't attend any lectures for the subject just do the exam at the end of the year.

    But Yes, you would lose the grant if you have to repeat the year.

    thanks bob you just confirmed my worst fears:eek:but thanks anyway i was taling to padraig cuffe, padraig said the same thing as yourself we repeated the the epeat exam last saturday which was grand that was set by marie and helen i managed to pass chemistry but i failed the physics so i had to study for both papers again:mad:i was stupid i thought i could somehow carry over with getting a pass on the chemistry so i didnt spend much time on the physics have you done the archaeology yourself bob ?i like it staff and lecturers are great help and intersting course

    No I'm studying Marketing and French but it's common law for everyone. Regardless of your course, you can no longer carry the subject forward. There was people in my class who brought a subject from 1st to 2nd year but that allowance is now gone.
