i'm in the middle of registering for Computer science and IT and i've gotten to the point where i need to pick my courses. I assumed i wouldnt ave to choose anything cause you need to do everything on the course but its giving me a choice between Mathematics and Mathematics (honours). Is there much of a difference between the two and are you at a disadvange if you do the normal one? I did pass maths for the lc so i'm not sure what to do :/

pass pass pass pass pass, im pretty sure you get the exact same degree by doing the pass as honours, but your definitely not at a disadvantage anyway

    To continue what Tribeman said:

    pass pass pass pass pass

It makes no difference to your overall year or degree. Also, you'll probably be spending the majority of your study time on maths as it is (it's not hard, just time consuming) so the less stress you put on yourself the better.

    To put this into perspective:
Out of the 49 people in the 2009/2010 class, I believe 3 people did Honours maths, with at least one of those people dropping down when they realized how pointless honours maths was.

I'm kinda in the same boat.I'm going into second year cs&it from undenominated engineering and stuck wether to keep the honours or drop to pass.

I went with pass in the end. I made the mistake of trying to do honours in the LC for a while but was getting nowhere with it! just wanted to check and make sure i wasn't going to be one of a few ppl doing it :P thanks!
