I think I've seen some stuff in the fresher's thread or somewhere about this, but does anyone know what the deal with the GF1 form that we got is?
I've applied for a local authority grant, but haven't actually got anything yet! If this GF1 has to be sent back ASAP, hat should I do if I haven't heard anything yet?

Should I put down the local authority's name, and just hope that I actually do get the grant? But then again, if I don't get it, I'll be completely screwed >.<

Yeah, I'm confused about it as well. I rang the fees office and asked about this, and the lady said if I don't know for sure that I'm going to get a grant, I shouldnt fill it out at all. But how is anyone to know if they get a grant? What happens if you fill it in anyways, and don't get it? And what if you DONT fill it out, and it happens you do get it? Doesn't make any sense.

I rang the office yesterday. They said if Im not sure whether I will get the grant or not I shouldnt fill out the form now and I should pay the €2000 myself. In the case I do get the grant I will have to bring the proof to college and they will give me those €2000 back.

Ignore them, fill it out and send it back but if you don't get the grant be prepared to pay your reg fee because they might charge you late fees. It's what my sister did when she started. But if you don't want to do that then you can pay the reg fee up front and get refunded later.

I rang them up today. They basically said to send both the FRS1 and GF1 forms off, regardless of whether the grant is completely finalised or not. If I don't end up getting the grant I'll have to pay, but if I do get it, they'll reimburse me the €2000.

They also said I need to wait for a fee demand form and a letter from my tutor next week.
    So hopefully everything's sorted now!!
