Hi can some one advise me on which is the best small stove to buy. Im looking to spend no more than 300 euro. I want one that doesn't have a boiler. I no 300 euro is not a lot to spend but i would like one that would last more than 10-15 years. So i am willing to settle for a second hand stove if its decent.

What size room is the stove to heat. No point fitting a stove that does not serve its purpose. Just to match your budget.
Give sizes.Ill advice on the stove size you need with prices.

I would say a 4kw stove will do you. I would recommend a stanley stove.
Shop around you might come in on budget. However the cost of the flue and labour may be additional.

Cool thanks for the advice. I was thinking about buying a second hand Waterford Stanley Oisin they are 6.5 kw and everyone seems to say the last for years. Seen a few online for 250-300 or would you recommend any other brands? I was thinkin it might be best to buy a second hand trusted stove rather than a new one for the same price but not of the same quality.

Depending on the condition of the stove.I would say go for that.

We got a Stovax Stockton 3 (http://www.stovesonline.co.uk/wood_burning_stoves/Stovax-Stockton-Stoves.html) last winter for a smallish sitting room. It is fab. Gives great heat with very little fuel. We bought this one in particular as we were able to get it to fit onto the hearth and into the existing fireplace without any mass destruction of the fireplace (wood surround with a cast iron insert & canopy - rectangular opening). We just had to take out the fireback and then get the pipe up into chimney. We paid about €500 for it which is more than your budget but we were looking at the fireplace dimensions when choosing

Good luck getting a good make of stove for 250 euro, and parts will be hard to come by too with these cheap stoves (unbranded stuff).

Ive a Stovax Riva 66 stove installed.

A chap down the road from me,bought an unbranded cheap stove in from the UK back in January,it fell to bits there just last week, and hes absolutely kicking himself for trying to be scabby and going el cheapo on the stove.

Be carefull what you buy and try to buy from a propper fireplace/chimney/stove supplier,at least this way you will have a comeback if anything does go wrong.

Als,dont forget to add in the cost of flue liner, spigots and adaptors, depending on where the stove is going and they size of the oem fireplace, that the stove is going into.

we've got the same type of room dimension as the OP and i'm wondering would something like this be ok??

    http://www.stovecentre.ie/product.php?id_product=219

how much would all the extras and installation cost if you were putting it in an empty fireplace??

(don't mean to hijack the thread but was going to post a similar thread to this!)
