What's the advantage of this? Now I have to check which Calendar, Documents, etc I'm signed into. And there's probably some security flaw with this multiple sign-in stuff. Waah.

Now you have to look at the top bar, instead of constantly signing into different accounts. I have a personal account, a myzone account and a work account that I use regularly, all on google apps, and I can switch between them with a keyboard shortcut now. BEsides, there's no need to use a web interface for documents, just use http://code.google.com/p/google-docs-fs/ to mount it as a drive if you're on anything except windows, and gladinet if you're windows!

It looks like the only difference of this for me is that I now have to sign out of one Gmail account to sign into the other. Previously I could keep both open in two tabs of the same browser.

My tcd.ie account seems to have got set as the default - how do I switch this to my personal account?

Both accounts need multiple sign in enabled, can't remember where the setting is off the top of my head (try the cog in the top right, and account settings.... somewhere buried in there)
When that's set on both, whichever one you sign in to first will be set as your default account. It's a pain at first, but it really is the best thing to happen to myzone (asidefrom the 25GB storage)

I came here looking for a thread to give out about this in!

Why did they change it? I used to have one tab for Myzone and one for Gmail.
Now it's all messed up and I have to sign out of one and into another, completely stupid.

Can someone please explain what's good about this?

You must enable multiple sign in on each google account you have first.

I have multiple sign in turned off on both my accounts, but it's still not allowing me to be signed in to both at the same time. I like to keep my tcd account separate from my gmail, which i use to sign in to youtube and everything. Is there no way to force this to stay the same as it was before?

You must enable it to be signed into both at the same time.

You can't use your TCD address with YouTube anyway because ISS have not enabled YouTube in the Google Apps admin interface.

Try sign in. You should get a message like the one below.

This service is not available

YouTube is not available for tcd.ie

I snooped around the settings after and found that multiple sign in thing. I checked it and now I can have both open but it's still being weird.

For instance....I had both open. Then signed out of Gmail. In Myzone I got an email with attachment. Clicked "view" and a new tab opened with the sign in for Gmail? Why can't I just open docs like before?

Have just done it again there and the attachment opened fine. Weird things going on...

Because you signed out of your primary account I'm guessing? when you close a tab, and open a tab again, it uses your primary account(first one you signed in to)

Good man... I had "multiple sign-in", then with this suddenly I didn't. Pet helped me out yesterday. What a pain in the arse though.

Hmm, this worked for a few days, then started wanting to switch between accounts again, then it was fine, then switching once again, then OK. Signed out of my TCD account today only for that affect my gmail, which I had to sign into again... Both are set to multiple sign in. I wonder if the sequence you log in for the first time in the day makes any difference.

I'm not sure exactly what changes TCD IS services / Google have made to mail accounts recently, but they led to some strange things happening on a Google group I manage.

Around 35 people had their addresses switch from @tcd.ie to %tcd.ie@gtempaccount.com, and found they could no longer post. This seems to be because they had more than one type of Google account sharing the same @tcd.ie e-mail address. These accounts then got merged and flagged as being in conflict where multiple accounts had the same address pre-merging.

Unsubscribing all the problem gtempaccount addresses and reinviting people to join via their normal @tcd.ie addresses seems to have fixed things, for now...

Information from both Google (link) and TCD (link) on how Google accounts have been reorganised & should be used henceforth is vague, so if anyone has any more info I'd be interested to hear.

Hey, just logged into the college Email for the first time in a while, got the "we've updated a bunch of stuff" screen.

This might just be me being paranoid, but glancing through the thing it made reference to the fact that administrators managing the TCD Email services are allowed to track and read your mail unless there's a privacy policy in place.

So.

Is there a privacy policy in place? Not that I'm trafficking heroin through my myzone address or anything I'd just like to know if it's actually private or not in case I need to send personal details through it.
