The provisional license is gone, you will be applying for a learner permit and its pretty much the same as the provisional

Application form (read this to be sure)
    Theory test cert
    Eye Test cert
Pictures (you sign on the back)

    send

hey presto, ready to take lessons.

    Good Luck

EDT or Essential Driver Training applies to all first time learner permit holders who got their LP on or after 4th April this year. It also applies to any learner who let's their permit lapse by 5 years or more.

You'll find out all about it here (look at the right hand side too): http://www.rsa.ie/en/RSA/Learner-Drivers/Driver-Training/Car-Training-EDT/I-do-not-hold-a-permit/An-Introduction-to-EDT/

If you've any queries give me a shout if you want

EDT is not required if your first learner permit was issued before 4th April 2011. If your learner permit was issued after the 4th of April

looks like your ok, if you havent you should really get lessons though,
