Eircom just announce new fiber to Donabate in Dublin, but nothing to Skerries - this is incredible with UPC just launched in Donabate, and UPC are not in Skerries yet. (See www.breakingnews.ie/business )

    This is crazy.

Skerries is big town, has about 6000 people, many in age group of 25 to 55. Many new houses here.

Why is Eircom not doing fiber to Skerries/Rush and is targeting another UPC area, (Donabate) seems a very bad business decision.

(Having used UPC broadband before, it is terrible not having fast broadband, I am stuck on very slow 4mb now with vodafone, with UPC TV)

Come on UPC/Eircom, please somebody bring fast broadband to Skerries.

Donabate, Lusk & Balbriggan now have UPC Broadband already

UPC would be excellent for Skerries, but if that is not possible, then come on Eircom, reverse the decision and spend your money in Skerries, you will get lot of customers

Because there is no competition in Skerries so they dont need to do anything

Have a look at the list and it will match pretty closely to MAN towns

Upc have cable in about 10 houses in Balbriggan, so it doesn't really count. Balbriggan is twice the size of Skerries, so I say to you Eircom, come to Balbriggan before going to that Skerries shower with your fibre.. /end ;)

Donabate, Lusk & Balbriggan had new build home that's why they have service. The cost to build an underground network from scratch is crazy money. The council's tend to only add to the cost creating new charges as their funding is being cut, killing the golden goose so to speak. The only way you will see UPC in these no network areas if everyone agree to allow an overhead network to be built.
