I'm on BTEA and didn't met certain criteria to be eligible for the grant to cover fees in year 1.
This year I meet the criteria , am I eligible for the grant to pay fees for years 2 & 3?

I'd say so - but we can't say for certain - send in your application

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I'm in the same situation; I paid my own 1,500 euro fees last year, but applied for the fees for this year, and got approved.
The application process is long, and the required documents is extensive, especially if you are jointly accessed with a partner for PRSI, credits etc. - but, like the BTEA, you only have to apply once, and should automatically get the fees for the remainder of your course.

BTW - you've left it very late to apply. I applied at the end of June, as soon as the forms became available online, and only heard from them 3 weeks ago.
The college/university are well used to getting late fees from the VECs etc, so try fobbing them off until you get word back. A couple of guys in my class didn't pay their fees until February! :D

Much the same here , paid my own fees last year with borrowed money went to the VEC office and the guy who TBh sits there in the info office not giving a **** looking at facebook , basically fobbed me off told me not to bother as i didnt get it in year one , so i wont get it in year 2 or 3 , so I applied anyway just in case , hopefully not to late , I applied 3 aug.

cheers for the info , its a weight off my mind as I was thinking of deferring for a year to try get some work to pay my fee for year 2&3
