Jaguar XF at auction

Hoping some enthusiasts may be able to guide me on the purchase of a Jaguar XF.

Currently one advertised for auction on www.wilsonsauctions.ie (2010 Jag XF 3.0 with 36km). The car is noted as "it has been water damaged previously" - does anyone know what this could mean ? I assume its repaired since it was 'previous' but could there be future more costly issues..

Finally, knowing that its water damaged, what do people reckon the car will sell for ? I'm trying to figure out if its worth my while going (first timer to an auction too).

    thx

Not worth it I wouldn't think.

Extremely complicated electrical systems like those found in a new Jag wouldnt be too fond of water. Could cost thousands to fix an intermittent problem.

I wouldn't touch it if it was water damaged, could be big problems down the line with electronics etc.

Regarding what does it mean, think driven into a flood sort of thing, a deep flood perhaps.

Is it petrol or diesel? Wouldn't cost you anything to go and take a look and see what it makes or what sort of interest there would be for it.

id give it a quick look , then probably wouldnt pay any more than what the major panels, leather seats (if undamaged) plastic interior bits and wheels would cost

That's a tad unrealistic I reckon, I imagine it's been repaired and is running fine.

Cars are usually only fit for breaking once they get near water.

A lad at work (mechanical engineer no less  ) drove into a flood in his 3 series coupe, insurance covered it. Car is far from fit for scrap, in saying that I wouldn't fancy buying one that was repaired after flood damage.

Wouldn't touch it ..... May be OK at the moment but a lottery and the fact that thet already advertised as water damage would mean you would have no comeback...buyer beware..

    steer clear

Buying at auction means sold as seen!

bit tongue in cheek on my behalf....what I meant was if it is sold as water damage to steer clear... I understand it is sold as seen...

If cheap enough and it runs well with no lights Id give it a punt. Its probably under warranty anyway, and If something went wrong I doubt a Jag garage in the North would ask too many questions about water damage they know nothing about.

I wouldn't depend on any manafacturer warranty. If may have already been noted as " water damage" if it was in a Jaguar dealer and therefore the warranty restricted.
