    I heard that if you are close to a pass they will go back and try find somewhere to give you more marks..

    then another person told me they dont, as it is a way to weed out the people that are not supposed to be on the course.

    Depends on how the course is run, if it's continuous assessment then yes repeats are easier as rather than rely on a number of projects and exams throughout the year you can pass simply by getting 40% in one exam.

    Sadly it's a 50% pass rate, if you fail you are off the course, cant carry it on into next year.
