Monthly Contact Lenses

I recently got the monthly lenses which you can leave in continuously for 30 days and wear them in the shower, in bed etc. The optician told me they were fantastic, supposed to be so comfortable and easy on the eyes so I was dying to start wearing them. I got them last week and after a days work I couldn't wait to get them out of my eyes.

So I gave my eyes a break for the night and thought I'd put them in the next morning and leave them in for the 30 days but again after a day in work I took them out as soon as I got home. I wore them again last night for only 6 hours and my eyes were just not comfortable.

I'm wondering if I'm not suited to these things and has this happened to anyone else? The optician really made me believe that these were the best monthlies you can get and I'm a bit p-ed off that it doesn't seem to be working out
These are supposed to be the next best thing to laser for me.

They are probably the best thing for most but just don't suit you. Bring your lenses back to your Optometrist and they will most likely change you to a different brand that will suit you better.
There are a few different brands of extended wear contact lenses so all is not lost!

Would a show of hands show that the 30 day lens are a winner?
    How much are they?

Try the bosche and lamb version. Very comfortable. Better than the version thatspec savers supply much more comfortable. I get 6 month supply from www.opticalinstitute.com for about 55 euro for 6 months

Forgot to say I tried the ones supplied by my local spec savers shop first. And couldn't wear them.

    Hi
I used to wear these lenses about 6 years ago. I wore them for a year -amazing - never had to put on glasses to see the time if I woke up in middle of night :) but my eyes became intolerant to them so I had to stop wearing them.
I wore monthly lenses then for a while but found the quality of them very dubious so switched to dailies.
After a while of wearing them I got an abscess in my eye. This can be very dangerous and is due to having lenses in for too long. Had a long discussion with the opthamologist in the hospital who said that dailies and indeed the long-wear lenses can be a cause of abscesses. He especially recommended to cut down lens-wearing hours. I'm not an expert but I'm guessing these type of lenses don't suit you so be careful. Abscesses of the eye can be very very dangerous if not detected in time
    Good luck with it!
